Hand-Painted Commission Pieces

Obsidian Guild Studio

For collectors seeking a truly unique display piece, Obsidian Guild Studio offers a limited number of hand-painted commissions each year. These commissions are created using high-resolution resin prints and finished using professional miniature painting techniques designed to produce gallery-quality collectible statues.

Because each piece requires significant time and attention to detail, commission slots are limited and fulfilled through a production queue.

What a Commission Includes

Each hand-painted commission typically includes:

• High-resolution premium grade resin printing
• Professional cleaning, curing, and assembly
• Surface preparation and primer application
• Multi-layer studio paint process
• Sealing and finishing
• Final quality inspection before shipping

The goal of every commission is to create a piece that feels worthy of centerpiece display in a collector’s showcase.

Commission Queue System

To maintain quality and production consistency, commissions are completed in a queue-based system.

When a commission is approved:

  1. A deposit reserves your place in the queue

  2. Your project enters the production schedule

  3. Work begins once your position in the queue is reached

Queue placement ensures that each project receives the necessary time and attention required for a professional finish.

Typical queue times may vary depending on the number of active commissions.

Commission Process

1. Request Submission

Collectors submit a request including:

• Character or subject
• Desired scale or size
• Reference images (if available)
• Base or display preferences
• Paint style preferences (if applicable)

Requests are reviewed to confirm feasibility.

2. Project Review & Quote

If the project is accepted, the studio will provide:

• Recommended scale
• Estimated production time
• Commission pricing estimate
• Deposit requirement

Not all requests can be accepted due to production capacity or project complexity.

3. Deposit & Queue Placement

Approved commissions require a non-refundable deposit to reserve a production slot.

Typical deposit range:

30–50% of the total commission cost

The deposit confirms the project and places the collector in the active commission queue.

4. Production

Once your project reaches the front of the queue, the following stages begin:

  1. Resin printing and curing

  2. Cleaning and preparation

  3. Assembly and surface finishing

  4. Priming and paint preparation

  5. Detailed hand painting

  6. Protective sealing and finishing

  7. Final inspection

Collectors may receive occasional progress updates depending on project scope.

5. Final Payment & Shipping

Once the commission is complete:

• Final photos may be provided
• Remaining balance is invoiced
• Item ships after final payment

All items are carefully packaged to protect delicate painted surfaces during transport.

Estimated Production Timelines

Production time varies depending on project complexity and current queue volume.

Typical ranges:

Commission Type Estimated Time
Small Painted Piece 4–6 weeks
Medium Display Statue 6–8 weeks
Large Display Piece 8–12+ weeks

Queue position may affect the start date of production.

Materials & Craftsmanship

All Obsidian Guild Studio pieces are produced using:

Premium grade resin and professional finishing techniques designed for collectible display.

Painted commissions use layered painting methods commonly used in miniature and display-model painting, including shading, highlighting, and surface detailing.

Each piece is finished by hand and inspected before shipment.

Commission Limitations

Commission availability is limited. Projects may be declined if they:

• Exceed current production capacity
• Present structural or print limitations
• Require unavailable digital assets
• Involve restricted intellectual property

Submitting a request does not guarantee project acceptance.

Important Commission Policies

Deposit Policy

Deposits reserve production time and cover preparation work.

Because commission pieces are custom projects:

Deposits are non-refundable once production has begun.

Custom Work Policy

Commissioned items are produced specifically for the requesting collector and cannot be resold easily.

For this reason:

• Commission orders cannot be canceled after production begins
• Custom items are not eligible for return

Fan Art Disclaimer

Many projects involve characters or designs associated with existing franchises.

Obsidian Guild Studio produces fan-art collectible pieces intended for private display only.

The studio does not claim ownership of any intellectual property belonging to third-party creators or brands.

Artist Attribution

When a commission uses a sculpt created by an independent digital artist, appropriate credit will be provided whenever possible.

Production Variations

Hand-painted items are individually crafted.

Minor variations may occur in:

• Paint tones
• Surface texture
• Fine details

These differences are normal in hand-finished collectible pieces.

Shipping & Liability

Collectors are responsible for:

• Accurate shipping information
• Import taxes or duties (if applicable)

Shipping carriers may occasionally experience delays outside the studio’s control.

If damage occurs during shipping, collectors should contact the studio within 48 hours of delivery with photos of the item and packaging.

Request a Hand-Painted Commission

Collectors interested in a commission may submit a request including:

• Name
• Email
• Character or concept
• Reference images
• Preferred scale or size

Requests are reviewed based on feasibility and production availability.

Obsidian Guild Studios — Frequently Asked Questions

Are your statues mass-produced?

No. Every piece from Obsidian Guild Studios is made-to-order using premium grade resin and produced in limited quantities. Each statue is individually crafted, finished, and quality-checked to meet collector-grade standards.

What materials are used?

All products are created using premium grade resin for exceptional detail, durability, and surface quality. This allows for sharp sculpt fidelity and a true display-worthy finish.

What finish options do you offer?

We offer three collector-focused finishes:

  • Unassembled & Unpainted (UU): A raw kit intended for experienced hobbyists who prefer to assemble and paint their own pieces.
  • Prepped & Primed (PP): Fully assembled, cleaned, and primed—ready for painting.
  • Hand-Painted (HP): A commissioned, studio-finished collectible completed by hand.

How do Hand-Painted commissions work?

Hand-Painted pieces are commission-based. A deposit is required to begin production, with the remaining balance due upon completion. Each piece is painted by hand, making every final result unique and one-of-a-kind.

What are your production times?

All items are made-to-order. Estimated production timelines are:

  • Standard Sizes (1/6 – 1/4 scale):
    • Unassembled & Unpainted / Prepped & Primed: 2–3 weeks
    • Hand-Painted: 4–6 weeks
  • Gallery Scale (1/3 scale):
    • Unassembled & Unpainted / Prepped & Primed: 4–6 weeks
    • Hand-Painted (Commission): 8–12 weeks

Production times may vary depending on model complexity and current production queue.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we ship worldwide. International customers are responsible for any customs duties, taxes, or import fees required by their country.

How are items packaged?

All items are carefully packaged using protective materials to ensure safe delivery. Larger or more complex models may ship in multiple parts to prevent damage during transit.

Can I cancel or return my order?

Due to the made-to-order nature of our products, all sales are final once production has begun. Cancellation requests must be made within 24 hours of placing your order.

Are these official licensed products?

Some items are fan-art interpretations created by independent artists. These are not officially licensed products and are intended strictly for collector and display purposes.

Will my piece look exactly like the photos?

Each item is individually produced. Minor variations in finish, color, or assembly may occur—especially with hand-painted commissions. These variations are part of the handcrafted nature of the product.

Do you offer custom work or special requests?

Yes. Select custom commissions may be available depending on scope and availability. Please contact us directly to discuss your project.
